About Berkshire Hills Baptist Church
Our Church Is . . .
. . . BIBLE BELIEVING
We believe that the Bible is the preserved Word of God and is the only authority for our standard of conduct and the rule for life and service.
. . . INDEPENDENT
We are self-governing and free of any denominational control.
. . . MISSIONARY
We believe that the Church has been commissioned to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ locally and abroad. We endeavor to fulfill this responsibility through personal evangelistic efforts and the support of missionaries both here in the United States and around the world.
. . . WARM AND FRIENDLY
This is the way the majority of first time visitors describe our church. Being warm and friendly is a real expression of the love we have for each other, and for those who join us each week.
. . . BAPTIST
Don’t let the name scare you. It simply means we follow the basic Baptist distinctives. These include such beliefs as: salvation by faith only; baptism by immersion after salvation; two ordained offices only - pastor & deacon; and the Bible is our authority for faith and practice.
Our Purpose
We believe that Jesus gave the Church a Great Commission and a Great Commandment. Our purpose is to be a Great Church by making these a priority of our church and daily life.
The Great Commission
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:” (Mat 28:19, 20)
Evangelism
~ Go/ Teach/ Baptize:
By sharing the love of Jesus Christ with those we meet locally, and through supporting missions, both locally and around the world.
Education
~ Teaching them:
By teaching and preaching the Word of God and how to apply it to our daily lives.
The Great Commandment
“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
(Mat. 22:37-39)
Worship ~ Love the Lord thy God:
Giving God honor and glory in all that we do, through corporate worship, and also consistent Christian living, prayer, and Bible study.
Edification
~ Love thy neighbor:
By gathering together with fellow believers, and through loving and caring for each other as we build each other up in Christ.
